ALL MY NEEDS
SCRIPTURE
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
-Philippians 4:19
Can God really meet all our needs? Paul, the writer of the letter to the Philippian church, is the true poster child for allowing God to define and meet needs. He testified to accessing glorious riches in Christ that met everything he needed. I am glad God doesn't give me everything I say I need. He knows more than I do and refuses to shortchange me by working within my boundaries. Instead, he offers his wisdom from his all-knowing perspective.
What riches do we receive? One that I value is being rescued from depending on our best efforts to save ourselves or to grow spiritually by trying harder. God works in us through his Spirit by a whisper, a nudge, or a background voice we learn to recognize and give priority to. And that's just for starters.
As we continue our journey to the cross, keep listening for his invitation. He invites us to his heart. He wants us close enough to hear when he speaks. He wants us to recognize the depth of his unfailing love no matter the question. When we accept his invitation to come, listen, or obey, the right answers to real needs will follow.
BURNING QUESTIONS
1. How do you tell the difference between a need and a want?
2. Why do you have trouble trusting that God knows your needs better than you do?
AFFIRMATION
God is a need-meeting God and knows my needs better than I do.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Generous Giver, protect me from misunderstanding my needs so I can recognize how you meet all I need.
